The primary goal of this study was to identify genetic loci associated with steroid hormone levels (cortisol, DHEA-S, testosterone, estradiol, progesterone, 17-hydroxyprogesterone, androstenedione, and aldosterone). Fluid resuscitation improves survival among patients with septic shock, but evidence is lacking to support the choice of either crystalloids or colloids. We compared intensive insulin therapy with conventional insulin therapy and HES with Ringer’s lactate.
